Our book for October is 'Mr Peacock's Possessions' by Lydia Syson, who we are delighted to announce will be joining us for the bookclub meeting.
For two years the Peacocks, a determined family of settlers, have struggled to make a remote volcanic island their home. At last, a ship appears. The six Pacific Islanders on board have travelled over eight hundred miles in search of new horizons. The book is an intimate, intense and beautifully realised novel of possession, power and the liberating loss of innocence.
If you want to support your local bookshop to purchase your copy, we can recommend Dulwich Books, Clapham Books and Forest Hill Books to name a few. For online sales why not try uk.bookshop.org where you get to allocate the sale to a bookshop of your choice.
If you are not part of the book club list and would like to be, please email signup@thedepartmentstore.com.
