'SOUND, ART AND PLACE' WITH WOLFGANG BUTTRESS

We are very excited to host a talk by internationally renowned artist Wolfgang Buttress, who will be discussing his multi-sensory artworks that draw inspiration from our evolving relationship with the ‘natural’ world. His work explores and interprets scientific discoveries, collaborating with architects, landscape architects, scientists and musicians to create human-centered experiences.

Sound has become an integral and essential part of Wolfgang’s current work. The Hive (2015) Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, connects light and sound from a live stream of vibrational signals from a living beehive; Beam (2019) at Glastonbury festival brought together light, film, sound and projection mapping; Liminal (2019) provides a view of the river Thames through a kaleidoscopic lens, while connecting to a sonar buoy that expressed the real time movement of the river through light and sound.

Wolfgang will discuss examples of his work, after which questions will be taken from the audience.

Members are welcome to bring one guest.
