With the 2021 parade postponed until September we still have some time to wait until we get out on the streets, but we are celebrating inside this year with our Summer Movie Night showing Pride. Based on a true story, the film depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984.

We are also displaying a painting by Sarah Jane Moon in our Squire & Partners reception throughout July. The painting depicts Jonathan Blake, a campaigner and one of the first people diagnosed with HIV in this country, along with his partner Nigel and friend Peter. The main character in the film Pride, played by Dominic West, was based on the story of his life. All three men live in Brixton and are real fixtures of the community.
