LITERATURE
Not for the faint of heart, 'A Little Life' by Hanya Yanagihara is the perfect chronicle of our age of anxiety, providing all its attendant dramas as well as its solaces: friendship, travel, love affairs and interior design. The novel details the lives of four young men over the decades and how they are interconnected, and reveals a disturbing past of the protagonist Jude.

'Nine Perfect Strangers' is the new novel by Lianne Moriarty, the best selling author behind the Emmy and Globe winning series 'Big Little Lies'. We follow nine stressed and strung out city dwellers who retreat to an island paradise for tranquility and spiritual recovery. With nothing but time on their hands to think about themselves and learn about each each other, they're blissfully unaware of lies ahead. A dark, funny and compelling page turner.

PODCASTS
'How to Fail' with Elizabeth Day is a wonderfully funny, honest and thought provoking insight into how we grow and learn from our failures. Elizabeth interviews a series of established guests who guide us through the moments in their lives when it all went wrong and how failure can often lead us to success. We highly recommend her special episode with Mo Gawdat on how to cope with anxiety in a time of coronavirus.

FITNESS
If fitness is keeping you going right now, check out ESPH Fit for Life. Upstairs member Max Sharp is live streaming up to 5 exercise classes per day on their Instagram page (esph_Fitforlife) which are then uploaded to YouTube afterwards (ESPH London).

WELLBEING
We all need a little positivity and structure in our life right now and as a behaviour and lifestyle change specialist, Upstairs member, Carole Stagg is in a unique position to give us some top tips whilst staying at home. Since 2012 Carole has been coaching clients to gain a fresh perspective on their lives and working to identify strengths and develop new habits that are sustainable over time.

Carole has generously started a Facebook group to support the health and wellbeing of Upstairs members. During the changes we now face, let's come together as a community to support each other to stay strong, connected and well. To become part of the group please click here.
